PAN EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY (PEU)
Pan European University (PEU), based in the capital city of Slovakia, was established in 2004 as the first private institution for higher legal education in the Slovak Republic. At present, it is offering University education by two faculties - the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economy and Business. Its program comprises bachelor, master and doctorate studies. The European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) is fully applied to all courses offered.
Outstanding professors and legal scholars from the Czech Republic, from Austria, from Belgium, from Germany and also from the Russian Federation participate in the program, thus showing the international character of the BSL teaching staff. The courses are taught in Slovak, in Czech, in English and in German. Some 1,500 students are presently enrolled at the BSL (2006/2007).
THE FACULTY OF LAW
The Law Faculty of BSL is a member of the ERASMUS/ELPIS teacher´s and student´s mobility network within the European Union. It is the only institution representing the Slovak Republic in that network which comprises 35 Universities all across Europe, including non-EU Member States such as Norway and Switzerland. It became member of ELPIS in November 2005 at the XXXIVth ELPIS Conference in Hanover, Germany.
Foreign students may conduct their studies at the Faculty of Law after fulfilling the general requirements for admission as prescribed by the University Laws of the Slovak Republic, covering e.g. the rules for admission, for entrance examinations, fees, etc. Or they may study here as a part of an exchange scheme with foreign partner Universities. At present, the Faculty of Law participates in international academic programs, such as LLP/Erasmus, on the basis of a number of bilateral cooperation agreements with such partner universities abroad.
